The President and the First Lady met with hundreds of citizens who were casting their ballots, demonstrating their civic responsibility and commitment to building a government based on the will of the people.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended the smooth conduct of the elections, the security arrangements, and the well-organized efforts of civil society organizations that made it possible for residents of the capital to freely cast their votes. He emphasized that the direct elections represent a vital step toward strengthening democracy, accountability, and public representation.
Finally, the President called on all residents of the Banadir region to take advantage of this historic opportunity and participate in the elections, so that their voices can help lay the foundation for transparent leadership and lasting development.
