Minister of Health Visits Banadir Mother and Child Hospital

Somalia’s Federal Minister of Health and Social Care, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, today paid a working visit to Banadir Mother and Child Hospital to assess the overall state of healthcare services provided there, particularly maternal and child care.


The purpose of the minister’s visit was to conduct a practical evaluation of the quality of services, the existing needs, and the challenges hindering the hospital’s development. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by the newly appointed Director of Banadir Hospital, Dr. Muna Hussein Hassan, who briefed him on the hospital’s overall condition, the changes introduced since she assumed office, and the development plans the administration aims to achieve.


The minister toured the hospital’s various departments, including the maternity ward, pediatric care unit, emergency department, and inpatient wards. During the inspection, he spoke directly with healthcare workers and patients, listening closely to their suggestions and complaints regarding the services.


Dr. Ali Haji Adam particularly commended the efforts of the doctors and nurses, noting that they are the backbone of public healthcare delivery. He also stressed the importance of improving service quality, strengthening medical equipment, and enhancing staff skills and capacity.


For her part, Banadir Hospital Director Dr. Muna Hussein Hassan said the new administration is engaged in a broad reform program aimed at improving the hospital’s operational system, cleanliness, and service delivery procedures, to ensure that patients receive efficient and high-quality care.
In conclusion, the minister pledged that the Ministry would work to support the hospital in addressing its current challenges and improving healthcare services beyond their present level.
