Mr. Kheyre directly called on Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, saying:“
Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre said tonight, in a speech addressed to Somali youth, that no election will take place in the country within the short remaining period unless a political agreement is reached.
Mr. President, you have only 25 days left.. No election will take place in the country unless it is based on agreement. Likewise, we do not want an election in which the federal member states each conduct their own separate process.
”Kheyre stressed that the country’s political situation requires urgent dialogue involving all political stakeholders in order to avoid conflict and political confusion.
He also said that Somali youth can play an important role in safeguarding national unity and calling for an agreed-upon election.These remarks come at a time when political debate continues to intensify.
