Ambassador Jabril Leads High-Level Delegation to Explore Major Investments in Tatu City

Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, led a delegation, including First Secretary Mr. Abdullahi Siyat, on an official working visit to the newly developed Tatu City, following a formal invitation from the company’s leadership.

During the visit, the delegation toured the city and observed the remarkable progress being made, with construction advancing at a rapid pace. Tatu City, located on the outskirts of Nairobi, has become a hub where many Somali entrepreneurs have already begun investing in residential and commercial developments.

The Somali community, renowned for resilience and business acumen, continues to play a significant role in driving economic growth in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

One of the most notable highlights of the visit was the delegation’s tour of a major 60-acre development funded by Mr. Abdiweli Hassan, popularly known as Maalin Wali, the visionary founder of Nairobi’s well-known Business Bay Square (BBS Mall) in Eastleigh.

His investment in Tatu City is valued at KES 65 billion, comprising residential units, commercial centers, office spaces, logistics and fuel storage facilities, and a mosque. This ambitious project is among the largest private-sector investments currently underway in Tatu City.

This level of investment demonstrates the strong confidence that Somali business leaders have in the future of East Africa’s economic landscape.

Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle thanked Tatu City’s leadership for their warm and productive reception throughout the embassy delegation’s visit.

“We look forward to strengthening ties with Somali investors, deepening regional cooperation, and expanding mutually beneficial investment opportunities. As the Ambassador of Somalia to Kenya, I am committed to enhancing partnerships, supporting sustainable growth, and uplifting communities across East Africa,” he said.

Tatu City is already home to 100 international companies, and the development provides employment to nearly 30,000 people on a daily basis.
